Michigan’s Constitution forbids the use of public funds for private schools, but could the state still see a voucher program?

A Michigan State University professor who has studied voucher politics will delve into that topic at the next meeting of Livingston County Democrats.
Dr. Josh Cowen will speak to party members at 7 p.m. on May 22, at Re/Max Platinum Auditorium, 6870 Grand River, between Brighton and Howell.
Please let us know you are coming by RSVP’ing here.
Cowen has written, testified, and spoken widely on education policy and politics. His work has appeared in outlets like Time Magazine, the Hechinger Report, the Dallas Morning News, the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Houston Chronicle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and The New Republic, and been covered at NPR, NBC News, CBS News, Forbes, Fox News, CNN, New York Magazine, Time and other major media outlets. He has taught future teachers, school leaders and public policy leaders for more than a decade at Michigan State University.
Josh Cowen’s book, The Privateers: How Billionaires Created a Culture War and Sold School Vouchers (Harvard Education Press), is an inside look at voucher politics and policymaking.
A social hour will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to park in the back, use the rear entrance, and take the stairs or elevator down to the auditorium. Please be prompt as the business locks the door at 7 p.m.
