Livingston Dems Support Local Children Through Backpacks for Kids!

More than 50 needy children in Livingston County will be heading off to school this fall with brand new backpacks and a stack of school supplies, thanks to the generosity of Livingston County Democrats.

The party once again participated in the Livingston Educational Services Agency’s annual Backpacks for Kids drive. Party members donated school supplies, backpacks, or cash for purchasing supplies, and volunteers then sorted the school supplies and filled the backpacks.

When all was said and done, the party filled 54 backpacks with the pens, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and more suggested by LESA, plus donated a stack of additional materials. LESA distributed hundreds of backpacks the week of Aug. 8, and the ones donated by Democrats were among them.

“Compassion for others is a core Democratic value. When we support a community program like Backpacks for Kids, we put that value into action. Democrats don’t just talk. We deliver,” said Judy Daubenmier, party chair.

“Party members who donated to our annual drive can be reassured that children are heading off to school with the tools they need to do their lessons in class and at home. We greatly appreciate the generosity of our members.”

(Paid for by Livingston County Democratic Executive Committee, 8028 Grand River, Woodland Plaza Suite 7, Brighton, MI 48114. Labor donated.)
