Livingston Dems Hosting Free Event, Film for Young Voters

No one has a bigger stake in our future than young people. That’s why Livingston Dems are inviting young voters to a free event, “The Fight for the Future,” that includes a free film, free refreshments, and a time for discussion afterward.

The film will be Revolution Generation, about the ways young people have made a difference in the past and are doing so now.

The free event will be Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Historic Howell Theater, 315 E. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843. Free refreshments are also included. And the first 50 people to sign up will receive a free sticker.

Sign up here! A discussion will follow the movie. It will be led by young members of the Livingston County Democratic Party. They will highlight what sorts of activities are available for young voters and how they can help make change even at the local level.

Young people are an increasingly important voting bloc. Michigan led the nation in voter turnout among young voters in 2022, with 36.5% turnout, up 3.8 percentage points from 2018! Turnout in 2014 was just 15.3%.

“Young people who are worried about the future may not know that they can make a difference or exactly how to get involved. This is a chance for them to learn about youth activism and how to participate locally,” said Judy Daubenmier, chair of the Livingston County Democratic Party.
