Kyra Harris Bolden Speaking To Livingston Dems' Winans Dinner

Livingston County Democrats will welcome to their annual Winans Dinner one of two candidates for the Michigan Supreme Court by the Michigan Democratic Party.


The Hon. Kyra Harris Bolden will speak at the event Friday, May 13, at Lakelands Golf and Country Club. The event is sold out.


Bolden was endorsed by the party at the April endorsement convention and will be formally nominated at the convention in August. Justice Richard Bernstein was endorsed as well.


Judicial candidates appear in the nonpartisan section of the ballot. Voters who vote a straight ticket must still vote for judicial candidates separately.


Bolden is serving her second term as a member of the Michigan House representing the 35th District.


Bolden is a lifelong residents of Southfield and a graduate of Southfield Public Schools, Grand Valley State University, and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She worked as a civil litigation attorney for Lewis and Munday, P.C., Detroit.


Before that she was a judicial law clerk for the Hon. John Murphy in Wayne County’s 3rd Circuit Court and a criminal defense attorney in 46th District Court.


She is active in the community including as a member of the National Congress of Black Women-Oakland County, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and as a commissioner of the Total Living Commission for the city of Southfield.


She has received many awards including the 2020 Michigan Chronicle 40 Under 40 honoree, 2021 Legislative Economic Development Champion Award and the 2021 Michigan Credit Union League Legislator of the Year award.
