Rob teaches at Wayne State University and owns a small business. He is a fourth-generation Michigander with roots in the Escanaba farming community. Health and education have always been important to Rob. His father was one of the original administrators for Washtenaw Community College and the Director of Financial Aid. Rob’s mother worked for Michigan’s Department of Education, helping to develop the state’s K-12 health-and-wellness curriculum. Rob Hower knows that by focusing on better health and educational opportunities, Michiganders can have the stability and happiness that they deserve.

Rob believes in the Michigan work ethic. He paid his way through the University of Michigan by dishwashing, waiting tables, and tutoring in math. Now, Rob is a research engineer at U of M, designing medical devices to improve people’s health care.

He’s also a proud member of the Union of Part-Time Faculty at Wayne State University, where he teaches electrical engineering. Numed Technologies, Rob’s design and production business, employs a team of five people. They work together to create high-tech sensors used in a variety of health and industry applications.

Rob Hower has been a resident of Green Oak Township for more than twenty years. In his free time, he trains therapy dogs to volunteer at hospitals and nursing homes, schools, and scout troops.

Hower is the only Democrat to file for the seat. The district includes all of Livingston County as well as townships in four other counties: Leroy, White Oak, and Stockbridge in Ingham County; Antrim and Burns in Shiawassee County; Argentine and Fenton in Genesee County, and Holly in Oakland County.
