War in Ukraine Topic at April Meeting

Livingston Dems will hear about the war in Ukraine from a University of Michigan instructor in Ukrainian language at their April meeting.

Eugene Bondarenko is a lecturer who teaches Ukrainian and Russian languages at the university. In addition to teaching language, he studies Ukrainian language politics and modern Ukrainian culture. He is also a former journalist and translator.

Bondarenko was part of a recent University of Michigan teach-out on the war in Ukraine offered on-line through Coursera.

“Russia’s assault on Ukraine is horrendous and beyond understanding for most people in the 21st Century. Eugene Bondarenko will help us understand who Ukrainians are and how this is happening,” said Judy Daubenmier, Livingston County Democratic Party chair.

The meeting will be Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at Re/Max Platinum Auditorium, 6870 Grand River, between Brighton and Howell. Park in the back, use the rear entrance, and take the elevator down to the auditorium. The auditorium is large enough to allow social distancing. Please wear a mask.

The party’s regular business meeting will follow.

For more information, contact the party at livcodems@gmail.com.
