A Unadilla Township Democrat was reappointed to the Livingston County Board of Canvassers on Sept. 22.

Judy Williams has served on the board since 2017.

She was nominated by Judy Daubenmier, chair of the Livingston County Democratic Party.

The canvassers board consists of two Republicans and two Democrats, with half the terms expiring every two years. Its job is to review the work of precinct workers and township clerks during elections and make sure the election was fairly conducted.

Judy served as vice chair from 2021to 2022, as chair from 2022-2023, and is currently vice chair.

Livingston County Clerk Betsy Hundley asked the commission to reappoint Judy, saying she “did an outstanding job” as chair and the board functions very efficiently.

The county commission voted by paper ballot to appoint Judy to a four-year term starting Oct. 1.

The other Democrat on the panel is Darlene Domanik of Brighton Township.

“The county board of canvassers serves a crucial role in reassuring the public about the integrity of our elections. We are fortunate to have such dedicated, hard-working public servants doing this important work,” said Judy Daubenmier, chair of Livingston County Democrats.
