A candidate for U.S. Senate who led President Obama’s task force that rescued the auto industry will join Livingston Dems at our fall potluck.
U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens will speak at the party’s Sept. 13 event. Stevens is one of several candidates for the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

Stevens, a native of Oakland County, is serving her fourth term in Congress after flipping an open seat that was previously held by Republicans.
Since then, Stevens has fought for Michigan’s manufacturing and auto-industries in Congress. She helped write the CHIPs and Science Act to bring America’s semiconductor industry back to Michigan.
She has also launched classes to teach digital manufacturing skills to middle and high school kids and voted to expand job training programs and apprenticeship programs for students. During her time in office, she has visited and met with workers at over 200 manufacturing businesses as part of a program she calls “Manufacturing Mondays.”
As a senator, Stevens said she would continue standing up to the Trump-Musk chaos agenda. When elected, she will fight to lower costs, protect the benefits that Michiganders paid into and earned over a lifetime of work, and defend our personal freedoms.
The Sept. 13 potluck will be at the Brighton Community Center, 555 Brighton St., Brighton. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and lunch will be at 1 p.m. The party will furnish fried chicken, table service, and beverages. Please bring a dish to share.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Three levels of sponsorship are available: Gold, including 4 tickets, $250; Silver, including 2 tickets, $125, and Bronze, $75.
Tickets and sponsorships are available here.
Candidates for 7th District Congress have been invited to attend and mingle with guests as well.
“The Michigan Democratic Party has outstanding candidates for posts from Michigan Secretary of State to U.S. Senate, and Livingston Dems are making sure to invite them all to events during the pre-primary period so people can make an informed choice,” said Judy Daubenmier, party chair.
