A Deerfield Township man and U.S. Navy veteran has filed nominating papers to run as a Democrat for township trustee.
Allen Newman, whose address is Fenton, is the first Democrat to seek a seat on the township board for several election cycles. He is part of a growing slate of Democrats running for county-wide, county commission, and township positions throughout Livingston County.
“I am running because I want to maintain our township’s rural atmosphere and keep up township services,” Newman said.
Newman is retired from Compuware Corp. where he worked for 21 years as a contract information technology professional.
He has a bachelor’s of science degree in data processing from Ferris State University and served two years in the U.S. Navy. Newman has lived in the county for 33 years. His three children all graduated from Hartland Consolidated Schools.
