A few weeks ago, Lansing Republicans were planning to do away with free breakfast and lunch for Michigan students, slash funding for the University of Michigan by 65 percent – and more – in the 2026 budget.
How did the state budget end up?

Rep. Jennifer Conlin, who represents the 48th State House District, will discuss how Democrats beat back the worst Republican plans and delivered for working families in the 2026 budget.
Jennifer, who represents Hamburg and Genoa Townships and part of Putnam Township, will speak at the Livingston Dems’ monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Mark Totten, candidate for Michigan Attorney General, will visit informally during the social hour.
This will be a great opportunity to meet and talk to an excellent candidate for Michigan State Attorney General.
The party’s October meeting will be on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. at Re/MAX Platinum Auditorium, 6870 Grand River, between Brighton and Howell. Please park in the back, use the rear entrance, and take the stairs or elevator down to the auditorium.
Please be aware that the business locks the door at 7 p.m.
There will be a social time at 6:30 p.m. Please sign up here https://forms.gle/HuEd7Z18Ct43K9Ck9 to let us know you are coming so we have enough snacks on hand.
The party’s regular business meeting will follow.
