Democrats throughout Livingston County supported local kids in need during the month of July by donating 30 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to the Livingston Educational Services Agency's annual Backpacks for Kids program.
Each year, the agency accepts donations of cash and school supplies to provide backpacks to needy children so that they are prepared to start off the school year with the tools to learn.
Livingston Dems raised $650 in cash plus a large quantity of school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, and glue to put together the backpacks.
The backpacks were delivered to LESA on July 23.
The backpack effort puts into practice two key Democratic values -- support for public education and compassion for those who need a hand in life.
