Livingston Dems celebrated their 43rd annual Winans Dinner on May 16 with a sold-out crowd at Lakelands Golf and Country Club.
Jocelyn Benson gave the keynote address. Chief Justice Meghan Cavanagh discussed the importance of the Michigan Supreme Court races, and 7th Congressional District candidates Bridget Brink, Will Lawrence, and Matt Maasdam each asked for support in the Aug. 4 primary.
Livingston Dems honored three individuals for their service to the party:
--Peggy Van Sickle received the Volunteer of the Year award for her efforts writing letters to the editor on a weekly basis;
--Kathy Mitchell received the Distinguished Service Award for jumping in to serve as party treasurer and learning the ropes so quickly, and
--Jeff Morley received the John D. Donahue Citizenship Award for his outstanding service to the party including managing events such as the Melon Fest, as well as our texting program.
And there were many bidders in our online silent auction, helping make the evening a financial success as well.
Livingston Dems appreciate the support of many who participated by buying tickets, placing ads in the Winans program, and donating items to the silent auction.
We also are grateful for the work of the Winans Committee for its months of planning!
