Did you know that more than one in five children in Livingston County qualifies for free or reduced price lunches? When those children head back to school, their parents will have trouble buying school supplies for them.
That's why Livingston Dems are planning to provide at least a dozen backpacks stuffed with school supplies for preschool/elementary children. The backpacks will be donated to the Livingston Educational Services Agency, which will distribute them to needy children on Aug. 8.
You can buy supplies from this list and bring to our office on Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Or you can make a monetary donation here and we will do the shopping for you. The cost of a backpack filled with supplies is about $60.
