As Americans watched Kamala Harris sworn in as the first woman Vice President of the United States, little girls saw a possible future where all women—African-American, south Asian, and more, could become their dreams.
But what is the real story of Kamala Harris? What were the influences which helped her climb the political ladder? Blue Ideas Book Club invites you to join us to find out as we read, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, Vice President Harris’ autobiography.
The New York Times best seller is, “…a book about the core truths that unite us, and the long struggle to discern what those truths are and how best to act upon them, in her own life and across the life of our country,” Times’ critics said.
The book is available at local book stores and libraries in printed and audio format. In addition, two copies are available at Livingston Dems’ headquarters for a two-week check out. Please call 810-229-4212 to reserve a copy.
“The Blue Wave Book Club is an extension of community participation within the Livingston County Democrats. It provides a platform for discussion with like-minded individuals, and a place for friendly debate about issues. Suggestions for future titles would be appreciated. Kamala’s book was suggested by one of our participants,” co-leader Renee Snyder stated.
The book club will meet on Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Members may sign up for the link here (https://forms.gle/vttFjwAmwsKDJmvo8).
