Livingston Dems are showing their compassion for others with their annual holiday drive for Gleaners Food Bank – including two special Saturday drop-off dates.
“Compassion for others is a core Democratic value and our annual Gleaners’ drive is the perfect way to put that value into action,” said Judy Daubenmier, party chair.
“When we give as Democrats, it reminds people that the party is here and that there are Democrats in the county.”
The Gleaners’ drive usually takes place at the party’s annual holiday party, but due to the pandemic, that event won’t be held.
Instead, people are encouraged to donate on line at: https://gleanersfooddrive.org/event/2021-livingston-county-democrats-virtual-food-drive/.
In addition, party headquarters will be open Saturday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Dec. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. for people to drop off donations of nonperishable food or cash or checks made out to Gleaners Food Bank.
People may also sign nominating petitions for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer when they stop by, renew their party memberships, or even sign up to be a precinct delegate.
While Gleaners serves Southeast Michigan, donations directly help many people in Livingston County.
In the last year, Gleaners provided 2.3 million pounds of food across Livingston County through more than 40 distribution partners. Shared Harvest Pantry, Fresh Market at SHP, and mobile pantries directly provided nutritious foods to more than 7,800 children, 7,900 seniors and 13,800 families in Livingston County alone.
Every $1 donated provides enough food for three meals, based on Gleaners’ buying power.
The drive will last through Dec. 20. Please be generous.
(Paid for by Livingston County Democratic Executive Committee, 8028 Grand River, Woodland Plaza Suite 7, Brighton, MI 48114. Labor donated.)
