Former state Sen. Curtis Hertel Jr. will speak to Livingston County Democrats at our monthly meeting on Thursday, July 27. Curtis is running for the Democratic nomination for 7th District Congress to replace U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who is running for the U.S. Senate.
Since leaving the Legislature, Curtis has been part director of Legislative affairs for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and has helped shepherd bills through the Legislature that secure reproductive freedom, broaden anti-discrimination laws, and reduce gun violence. Curtis has a strong track record of working across the aisle to get things done. The 7th District covers Ingham, Livingston, Clinton and Shiawassee counties and parts of Eaton, Oakland and Genesee counties.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Re/MAX Platinum Auditorium, 6870 Grand River, between Brighton and Howell. Park in the back, use the rear entrance, and take the stairs or elevator down to the basement. Curtis will provide an update on his campaign, which he announced on July 10. The party’s regular business meeting will follow. Then we will gather for a social hour at Aubree’s Pizza, 4433 E. Grand River, Howell.
Please sign up here so we know you are coming.
