About the event
Michigan's ballot will be full next fall, not just with candidates, but potentially with ballot proposals.
To help you sort through what's on the ballot, representatives for three proposals will speak at our next meeting on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
Speaking will be:
--Tali Hylen, Invest in MI Kids, a proposal to add a 5 percent surcharge to incomes over $500,000 or joint incomes over $1 million, with the money going to schools. The Michigan Democratic Party has adopted a resolution supporting this proposal.
--Tali Hylen, also speaking on Michiganders for Money Out of Politics, a proposal to ban political contributions by regulated utilities and corporate contractors. The Michigan Democratic Party has not endorsed this proposal because of fears its wording could be used to bar some unions from political activity.
--Pat Zabawa and Marie Wicks, Rank MI Vote, a proposal to allow voters to rank candidates in…
